2014 has been a difficult, yet very rewarding year. Even with limited resources, here’s what MMM has accomplished:
* We sent a total of four 40 ft. containers to the Philippines filled with donated medical supplies/hospital equipment and with estimated value of over $ 4 million.
*Our quarterly MMM Health Fair For Veterans domestic project continues to gain momentum, thanks to the excellent leadership of its Chairman, Col. James W. Ireland [USA][R].
*Three fundraisers: Golf Tournament, Summer Bash and 1st Annual Oyster Roast had modest financial returns, but above all, these events broaden our support base.
*We did three medical missions in the Philippines and a Dental Mission in Mongolia, gaining MMM a foothold there.
*A most pleasant surprise was our newly offered marketing arrangement with NASCAR through Little Joe’s Circle Sport #33 car Sprint Cup.
*A wonderful tie-up with Major League Baseball Players Association Trust through the philanthropic efforts of Michael ‘Cuddy’ Cuddyer and his lovely wife Claudia. Cuddy was the 2013 National League batting champion with .331 average. He hails from our city of Chesapeake.
*O.I.A.–this is our newly adopted acronym. It is very much alive and well at Montero Medical Missions. Where else can you find a three year-old international humanitarian organization with a thriving domestic project and without a salaried employee? ONLY IN AMERICA! As we reflect on our blessings these past 12 months, we wholeheartedly thank our altruistic active and international advisory board members,  our super friend volunteers and supporters, for their continued selfless giving of their time, talent and treasure–O.I.A.
2015 is what we eagerly look forward to. Keep an eye on the following:
*Cuddy Cuddyer who recently signed with the New York Mets, will donate $250.00 for every homerun he hits, on the condition that it be matched by businesses and MMM supporters. This altruistic arrangement will be closely monitored on our soon to be upgraded website and social media. I wonder what Cuddy will give for a grandslam. He told me, he has nine in his career. Please be generous in your matching fund, to encourage Cuddy in his admiration of our MMM Health Fair For Veterans project.
*Through the leadership of our newest MMM board member, Andy Villaraga, we will soon replicate our unique MMM Health Fair For Veterans in Richmond, Roanoke and Northern Virginia. Andy is Vice President/Sales of John Frederick Radio Talk Show.
*Philippine Congressman Manny Pacquiao, the reigning WBO welterweight boxing champion and the only boxer ever to hold championships in eight different weight divisions, has a standing invitation to come to Norfolk/Virginia Beach for an MMM fundraiser. We are currently working on sending a 40 ft. container with donated medical supplies and hospital equipment for his province’s Sarangani Provincial Hospital in Mindanao.
*Master Hour, a social media created by Marco Derhy of Hollywood has kindly enrolled me as a Master. He is in serious communication with Team Pacquiao to get him involved likewise and make Montero Medical Missions as a conduit for MP’s charities.
*Stay tuned for the start of NASCAR season in couple of months and Major League Baseball in April. Hopefully MMM will soon have a tie-up with National Football League. Health Fair For Veterans on Sat. Jan.10th and MMM Golf Tournament on Monday, May 4th.
*Through MMM’s initiative, we may start a unique medical school course regarding the “Conduct of Medical-Surgical and Humanitarian Missions” at Eastern Virginia Medical School-Brock Institute for Community and Global Health. Keep fingers crossed.
*Expect the MMM-ECPI [Excellence Commitment Professionalism Innovation] University relationship to strengthen. Their excellent healthcare administration students rotate for a few weeks at a time as interns at our international headquarters. At the same time under the leadership and tutelage of Dr. Dawn Campbell, they help us write grants application.
