To Doc’s left is surgeon Ted Herbosa, a former Undersecretary of Health and currently the chairman of PfPP board. Montero Medical Missions has now a unique working relationship with PfPP, especially in creativity of sustainable health care projects such as on prosthetics and eyesight. PfPP is very proud to claim the first and only Lions Medical Eye Bank in southeast Asia, located in Cebu city and inaugurated in 2007. It has a world class School of Prosthetics and Orthotics based at University of the East with a five-year college degree course, initially funded by Nippon Foundation in 2011. Therefore Doc’s dream of a motorized, shallow draft, floating medical clinic could soon be a reality–what with several potential partner stakeholders to form a consortium for its sustainability. With PfPP’s most energetic Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Lyne Abanilla, the future is bright for the Philippine Islands’ healthcare delivery system. Stay tuned.
